As November 2014 ended with a snowy flourish, we decided to take a trip to Staircase in Olympic National Park. Having not received a single snowflake in Olympia, driving the short and scenic hour and a half to Staircase, the trek around the Staircase Loop trail was exactly what was needed after a weekend spent gorging on turkey, pie and stuffing. The 2 mile loop trail was a great excuse to stretch my legs, take some pictures and enjoy the snow.
For those who don’t know Olympic National park’s Staircase region, the loop trail is a spectacular, family-friendly path that follows the Skokomish River. Showing off the tumbling cascades, old growth forests, small creeks and a spectacular bridge crossing, the Staircase Loop trail should be added to your snowy day destinations.
